My Travel Makeup Bag

Today’s blog post is going to feature a few makeup products that I think are great for taking with you when travelling, either because they contain more than one product within them, or because they’re less likely to break than other makeup products you may have. The items in this post make it possible to create the perfect everyday makeup look in the easiest and fastest way, which is ideal for when you’re on holiday. At the end of this post, I’ll also show you guys a few of the best ways to store your makeup in your suitcase.

Starting off with the base makeup, the perfect primer to travel with would be the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. Firstly because it’s the perfect small size to travel with and the packaging isn’t going to have you worried that your primer will break in your bag. Your skin also might not react well to the weather at your destination so this primer is perfect for smoothing down your skin.

My favourite travel foundation is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation because it’s light weight yet has a medium to full coverage. Once again it’s easy and small to travel with.

The Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer is basically a corrector and concealer in one, it also comes with a mirror and is easy to apply using your finger, so that makes it perfect to use when travelling.

A second, cheaper option for concealer would be the Sleek Corrector & Concealer Palette. It takes a few seconds to conceal your under eyes with this palette because it comes with two concealer shades and a great setting powder.

I like to set my entire face as well, so my favourite product for this is the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder because it’s light weight, adds extra coverage and makes your skin look smooth.

A great blush to travel with is the Benefit Sugarbomb Blush because it’s got a variety of colours within it so you could mix them together to get a pretty neutral shade or use the individual colour you want alone.

One of my favourite eyeshadow palettes is the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette because it comes with great neutral shades. The brown shades could be used to fill in your eyebrows or deepen up your crease, whilst the black shade could be used to smoke out your eye makeup look if you’re going for something more dramatic. It also has a white shimmery shade that could be used to highlight your brow bone and inner corner.

My favourite eyeliner to use whether I’m on holiday or not is the L’oreal Super Slim Eyeliner. It’s so incredibly easy to create a winged eyeliner with this product, and that’s a must because you usually don’t have much time to spend on your makeup when you’re on holiday.

When I go on holiday, I like to take this sample size of the Benefit They’re Real Mascara because it would obviously take up less space in a makeup bag.

One of my favourite bronzers is the Bahama Mama Bronzer. You could either use it to bronze up your face or contour your cheek bones and nose because it’s a cool-toned, matte brown bronzer. It also has a smaller packaging compared to other bronzers.

A good highlighter to take with you, that’s easy to apply using your fingers, is the L.A. Girl Velvet Hi-Lite StickIt also gives the perfect, natural glow to your cheekbones, which is perfect for an everyday makeup look.

The Nyx Matte Finish Setting Spray is an essential to take with you because it’ll help your makeup stay on all day as well as help your makeup appear less cakey. It also comes in a small bottle so it won’t take up much room in your makeup bag.

Lipliners are easy to throw into your makeup bag, but a great lipstick alternative would be the Inglot Lip Paint. It’s moisturising and can easily be used with a compact lipstick brush. It can also double up to be used as a cream blush because it can easily be blended in using your fingers.

For the storage of your makeup products, it’s always a good idea to keep them packed tightly in place so they don’t move around too much and break. The first bag in the picture above is a Ted Baker Beauty Bag which has a lot of space to store all your makeup products. I’m sure you could fit a larger palette in there if you would like to. The second makeup bag is a cheaper alternative, which I bought from Primark. I love this one because it comes with 3 compartments so you could easily separate out your makeup products into face, eyes and lip products.

To keep your makeup brushes from getting messed up in your bag and changing shape, they should be stored in a brush holder like the ones pictured above. These brush holders are from Mac, Sigma and Smashbox. My favourite one would be the Sigma Brush Holder because it can easily be stored in your suitcase and once you reach your destination you could display your brushes on your dressing table and easily use them.

Another option for brushes would be to get a travel brush kit. This one is from Sigma and has all the brushes you would need. They also come in their own pouch which is another bonus. You could also buy travel brushes which come with a lid because they wouldn’t get dirty easily and can easily be thrown into your makeup bag without you worrying about the makeup on them getting anywhere in your bag.
